Children’s Ministry

Christ Church St. James runs a vibrant and dynamic Church School for the younger children in our Christian community. Graduates from the Nursery at age 2 or 3 start downstairs with their own dedicated class of 2 to 4 year olds. Children aged 5 up to Grade 5 make up the majority of the Church School. A 9 to 11 year old group (the BIGGS) splits off this main group to meet three times a month (first Sunday of the month, all classes are together for a variety of supervised activities). Grade 6 to 12 students make up our dynamic Youth Groups.

Children start in the 10:00 am service upstairs and go downstairs with their teachers at the Praise Hymn stage of the service. We return before Communion begins.

All of our team of Church School instructors have many years of experience teaching young children about the Bible and Christianity. They have all been thoroughly screened using the Anglican Diocese of Toronto’s screening process – Screening in Faith. This process includes, among other things, a police check.

Our Church School teachers utilize arts and crafts, games and stories to teach our children about the Good News of Jesus Christ and God’s love for them.
